How much does a heat recovery ventilator cost

The price of heat recovery consists of several items and varies depending on whether it is for decentralised units in an apartment or a central system with distribution throughout the house. We always provide a specific quote after a free survey, here is an overview of what it comprises and the range commonly cited in the industry.

Without an on-site survey, the price can only be estimated approximately. It depends on the layout, number of rooms, condition of the building and whether it is a new build or a retrofit installation. Therefore, below you will find a range rather than a single figure, always with a reference to the source from which it is derived.

What makes up the price

In addition, the price is also affected by whether it is a new build or an additional installation into a completed flat or house, with additional installations, construction work related to routing ducts or penetrating the façade is added, which in new builds is already handled during the rough construction phase.

Flat: decentralised units

According to the publicly available price list of the decentralised unit supplier, one unit for a single room costs approximately 8 000-20 000 Kč including installation. A 3+kk flat with three rooms typically requires 3-4 units (the bathroom and kitchen usually have their own exhaust and are not included in the count), with the total investment then amounting to around 30 000-80 000 Kč.

For larger houses (over 250 m²) or more complex renovations, the price may be higher; conversely, a smaller flat or simpler layout may cost less than shown in the table. In addition, there is support from the Nová zelená úsporám programme for mechanical ventilation with heat recovery, see more on the website. Subsidies.

What is included in the budget as an additional cost

In the case of renovation, the items listed above may be supplemented by demolition and masonry finishing work following the routing of conduits, or possibly modification of the electrical installation for connecting the unit and its controls. For decentralised units in flats with an insulated façade, connection and sealing of the external grille into the insulation layer is also included. These items are not reflected in the indicative price ranges above and are addressed only based on the specific site.

Why prices vary from company to company

Price differences between suppliers are usually not random. They depend on the brand and class of unit (an enthalpy exchanger that also handles humidity is typically more expensive than a simpler counter-flow type), the complexity of installation at the specific site, and whether the price includes an HVAC design or post-installation service support. Therefore, it is always better to compare a tailored offer rather than just the price range from a catalogue.
