Subsidies for heat recovery ventilation: New Green Savings

The Nová zelená úsporám programme also supports controlled ventilation with heat recovery. The form of support has changed in recent years, for ordinary households, the programme now mainly offers interest-free loan for renovations, not as direct grants paid out immediately. In this model, the state pays the bank the interest that would otherwise be paid by the household itself. Direct grants remain reserved mainly for low-income and vulnerable households under a separate branch of the NZÚ Light programme.

Detached houses

According to the programme's official website, there is a controlled ventilation system with heat recovery for a detached house, the maximum support amount in the form of an interest-free loan 200 000 KčApplications may be submitted by owners of detached houses via the electronic AIS SFŽP ČR system before work begins, during its course or after completion.

Residential buildings: owners' associations and housing cooperatives

For apartment buildings, the programme supports the installation of central and decentralised ventilation systems with heat recovery. The maximum support amount is 100 000 Kč per connected flat. Applications may be submitted by owners' associations and housing cooperatives, again electronically via the AIS SFŽP ČR portal.

Why it is a loan, not a cash grant

The previous version of the Nová zelená úsporám programme was based mainly on direct grants, which applicants received as a reimbursement after implementation. The current setup for ordinary households replaces this model with an interest-free loan: the practical difference is that you borrow the money for implementation from a bank and the state pays the interest on your behalf. The advantage over a standard consumer loan is clear, without support you would pay the interest yourself. The disadvantage is that it remains a loan to be repaid, not money received without obligation.

Who is eligible to apply for support

For detached houses, the property owners submit the request directly. For apartment buildings, the building's owners' association or housing cooperative submits a single request for the entire building, not individual flat owners separately, this applies even when installing decentralised solutions per individual flat.

What support covers and what it does not

The subsidy covers the controlled ventilation system with heat recovery itself: the unit, distribution and its installation. It does not apply to air conditioning or heat pumps, even if they are addressed in the same renovation, these are separate measures under the programme with their own conditions and must be handled separately.

How we can help with this

The application requires technical documentation for the installed system. We will prepare this part as part of the order; the applicant submits the application itself via the AIS SFŽP portal (or hires an energy advisor to do so). We cannot access the system on your behalf, but we will review the documents you need for the application with you. This applies to both detached houses and SVJ and housing cooperatives, where the administration surrounding the application is somewhat more complex because approval covers the entire building.

Accurate and up-to-date conditions, forms and binding instructions for applicants are always available on the official website. novazelenausporam.cz, as the programme rules may be adjusted over time.

What to prepare in advance

It is useful to have basic property details at hand (land register number, year of construction) and an idea of the installation scope, whether it involves decentralised units for a few rooms or a central system for the whole house. We will prepare the remaining technical documentation for the application as part of the installation.

When does it make sense to arrange support right from the start?

The simplest approach is to consider the application right at the start, during the stage when you are having a quote prepared for installation. This allows you to plan immediately what supporting documents you will need for the application, avoiding the need to return to this later. Although the programme permits submitting the application after the work is completed, this is not a requirement-it simply usually saves time.
